Pards Pleased With Win

By Paul Crisp
Wednesday, 19th September 2007
Charlton boss Alan Pardew was a happy man after his side's 2-0 victory over Norwich City.
The Addicks dominated the game but left it late to secure three points, with skipper Andy Reid converting two penalties in the 85th and 87th minute.

"I was pleased with everything tonight, said Pardew.

"The only thing we were disappointed with was that with 80 minutes gone we hadn't scored.

"Izale McLeod was the last throw of the dice really, to see if he could inject something and use that extra yard of pace when everyone else was tired, and it worked because he got the penalties for us.

"Everyone played their part tonight, but the captain did in particular. He kept driving us on and he didn't let his head drop when he missed a chance in the centre of the goal.

"I think he said to himself that he was going to make up for that and that's the attitude that you want."

Next up for Pardew's men is a home game against Leicester City on Saturday (3pm) and the gaffer is refusing to get carried away with his side's performances.

"We mustn't get carried away," he said. "You only get performances like tonight four or five times a season, but it will give us confidence.

"I'm very pleased that we've put in a performance like that. We've got some good results, a decent points total with a home game coming up on Saturday, so it's been a nice start so far."
