Charlton 1- 0 Colchester

In a game where few chances were created, Nicky Forster stepped up to show to the Addicks faithful exactly why he was signed.

As Lloyd Sam took the defender on, leaving poor Jon Joe O’ Toole with what looks liked a twisted knee and played in the cross, Nicky Forster found himself unmarked at the back post and hit a diving header to perfection, sending the ball flying into the net for the only goal of the game.

Apart from that, the game was one where the referee took centre stage, stopping the play at seemingly every opportunity, although thankfully none of the home players were eventually sent off for their actions, unlike Kevin Lisbie, who was dismissed in injury time of the second half.

So we welcome Norwich on Saturday to The Valley, and hope that Huddersfield can turn over Millwall on Friday night, while also hoping that Leeds and Swindon will drop points against Gillingham and Walsall respectively.

With the way results are happening at the moment, those wishes aren’t actually un-believable. And having seen that Millwall’s equaliser was in the 93 min, much like Swindon’s on Monday, says to me that the race for automatic promotion really is going to go to the final day.

That said, if we beat Norwich on Saturday and then the Canaries loose again, could their chances of an automatic place be in danger? After all, Leeds thought they were shoe ins.

Come on you Addicks!!
