Charlton 1 - Carlisle 0

Charlton earn 6 points from Easter weekend fixtures

With only six games left in the league one season, victories are vital, regardless of the style that they’re achieved in.

Phil Parkinson’s men showed a great example of this today with victory over Carlisle United.

Back at The Valley for the first time since the 2 – 2 with Gillingham, the Addicks were looking for a convincing win, unfortunately, due to some weak finishing, this wasn’t to be the case, but a Sam Sodje header just before half time was enough to secure the 3 points.

The win sees Charlton remain in 5th place, but only 2 points behind second, with Colchester, Leeds and Norwich all due to visit The Valley in the final 3 home games for the Addicks.

Southampton away is the next fixture as Phil Parkinson’s men will be looking to achieve a 3 game winning streak against Alan Pardew’s Saints, who beat Leyton Orient 2 -1 at St Marys today.

Although Charlton arguably possess the toughest run in of the teams at the top of League One, the fact that three of our nearest promotion contenders have to come to SE7 before the season’s end means that Charlton’s fate is firmly in their own hands, and automatic promotion is becoming a more achievable prospect with every game not lost.

Come on you Addicks!!!
